Apple Watch comes with Voice Memos, Apple's app for recording personal notes. It's good at what it does. Hinokoe is built for something different: keeping a whole day.
The same day, as separate recordings. The same day, as one page of a book.
What Apple says about Voice Memos
- On Apple Watch, you open Voice Memos, tap Record, and tap Stop when you're done.
- Recordings sync automatically to your iPhone, iPad and Mac signed in with the same Apple Account.
- On iPhone 12 or later, Voice Memos can show a transcript, in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. It isn't available in every country or region. You can search titles and transcripts.
- While the microphone is in use, Apple Watch shows a microphone icon on screen.
What Hinokoe does
- Tap once and it keeps recording in the background until you stop it or the battery runs low.
- If a call or Siri interrupts, it picks back up on its own when it's on screen. Otherwise your watch taps you and one tap resumes. (Tested on Apple Watch Series 12, watchOS 27.0.1.)
- Transcribes Mandarin, Cantonese, English and Japanese on your iPhone, even mixed in one sentence, and labels who said what.
- Organizes the day by time and scene into one page of a book.
- Lets you show a notice card to the people around you.
- Your audio is never uploaded to our servers.
Which one fits you
If you want to record a single meeting or a quick note, Voice Memos is all you need. If you want to keep a whole day and read it back as a page, that's what Hinokoe is for.
